About uS

The Gut Wellness Programme has been created by a small group of Herbalists and Naturopaths. Gut health has been core to herbal practice for centuries. It is only more recently that the role of gut health is being recognised in other forms of medicine and what we as herbalists and naturopaths have been working with for decades is now being accepted in the mainstream. As gut health is so central to our practice, Lloyd Gee came up with the initial idea of this Gut Wellness Programme and approached several colleagues. Together we have developed this into a complete package.

Herbal Medicine
Herbs have been used as medicine for thousands of years; many herb ingredients have been used to create modern drugs. A typical herbal medicine prescription would aim to improve symptoms and strengthen or stimulate the body’s normal function in order to help the body to heal itself. Natural plant medicines have several active ingredients, which are effective to enhance health in various ways.
Western Herbal Medicine, like other traditional medicine, uses plants (root, leaf, stem, flower, fruit, seed or whole plant) to treat disease and enhance health and wellbeing. Herbal medicines can be in the form of capsules, teas, powders, tinctures, glycerites, pessaries, suppositories and syrups and are prescribed specific to the patient, taking into account their medical history, blood tests, presenting symptoms, nutritional status and lifestyle.
Naturopathy
Naturopathy uses the power of nature to
promote your body’s self-healing mechanisms. Our bodies have intuitive and intelligent mechanisms that repair, restore and maintain balance and health. We aim to treat the cause not just the symptoms and treat the whole person. A naturopathic approach includes looking at physical, emotional, social, familial and occupational factors. The practitioner helps to empower the patient to understand and improve self-care thereby taking more responsibility for their own health.
Treatment may focus on restoration of health where there is illness, optimisation where overall health is reasonable and prevention of ill health or slowing down of health deterioration.
Treatment may incorporate natural medicines, supplements, exercise, lifestyle modifications and possibly other natural modalities.

Nutrition
What you eat is one of the most important factors for good health. Nutrients and other food components are essential to most functions of the body and therefore deficiencies or excesses of any nutrients will positively or negatively affect health. Healthy nutrients protect against disease, restore health, and levels of these nutrients often determine people’s response to any health challenges.
Each person will have slightly different dietary needs so there is no one size fits all. However a healthy diet does not need to be over complicated or difficult to achieve. Based on our knowledge of nutritional requirements, your nutritional status, dietary intervention can be used to prevent, mitigate or sometimes resolve chronic disease.
We are here to help you make better choices about what you eat or what supplements may help.
